Naomi Welsh is instructor of cello at the University of North Dakota, and also maintains an active private studio of cello students. Ms. Welsh is the principal cellist of the Greater Grand Forks Symphony and director of the Symphony’s Divertimento and Summer Strings youth chamber music programs. She is also acting program director for the Red River Chamber Festival, a weeklong summer chamber music camp for high school and college-aged string musicians. She previously taught orchestra for ten years in the North Dakota public school systems. Ms. Welsh began her cello studies at the age of four; her teachers have included Ann Alton and Eva Heinitz. She holds degrees from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and Minnesota State University- Moorhead. Ms. Welsh is an avid chamber musician with twenty years of private studio teaching experience. She performs with the Grand Forks String Quartet at various functions, and has collaborated with members of the Ying Quartet and Chiara Quartet.
