Come join us for refreshments while we assist you with the steps to plan your next event. You will learn how to plan an event from start to finish, discover what’s new in catered events, learn how to successfully complete the forms to request catering services, learn menu planning from the catering experts, and find out how to take your catered event to the next level. Prerequisite: Basic understanding of computers, mouse, and file saving and retrieving skills.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to explore the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 environment and create a basic worksheet; perform calculations; modify a worksheet; format a worksheet; print workbook contents; and manage large workbooks. Presenter: Heidi Strande.

Visa Issues and the Hiring of International Faculty and Staff

Are you hiring international faculty/staff or sponsoring visiting scholars? This workshop will provide guidance concerning the acquisition of the correct visa for international faculty, visiting scholars, medical residents, and professional staff. It will discuss the difference between J-1, H-1B, and TN visas along with application procedures through the Office of International Programs, U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Service, and U.S. Department of State. Defensive Driving
Nov. 5, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Swanson Hall, room 10-12
This workshop is required by State Fleet for all UND employees who drive State Fleet vehicles on a regular (monthly) basis, received a traffic violation, or had an accident while operating a State Fleet vehicle. Employees are encouraged to bring a family member (spouse and/or dependents). This workshop may also reduce your North Dakota insurance premiums and could possibly remove points from your driving record. Presenter: Eric Pearson

GroupWise 7.0: Beginning
Nov. 12, 9 to 12 p.m., Upson II, Room 361
Students will navigate through the GroupWise environment, create and send messages; reply to and forward messages; use the Address Book, create a personal address book, create a mail group; work with the calendar; schedule posted appointments and recurring events; and work with the Junk Mail folder and other mail-handling features.
