UND French heritage group on the road in Quebec

UND French language professor Virgil Benoit is on the road leading a busload of folks from the region who’re digging into their French-Canadian roots; it’s a voyage of discovery and learning about the broad heritage and cultural influences of North America’s French community.

The bus tour, organized by Benoit and the UND-based IFMidwest cultural organization that he co-founded and directs, departed Grand Forks Friday, July 24, and now is in Quebec. Follow the tour in words, sound, and video at this UND-hosted blog: http://ifmidwest.wordpress.com/

The tour follows a cultural route across the northern Plains and into Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ontario, and Quebec, including stops in Crookston and Duluth, Minn.; Ashland and Marquette, Wisc.; and several communities in Canada on the way to the grand French-Canadian cities, Montreal and Quebec City.

The tour is due back in Grand Forks on Wednesday, Aug.5. For more information, contact Virgil Benoit at 777-4659 or virgil.benoit@und.edu
