Ben L. Collins remembered Ben L. Collins, Ph.D., passed away peacefully on July 10 at the age of 87. He was born June 10, 1922, to the late Benjamin L. and Ruth Kohn in Newark N.J. Ben joined the Merchant Marines shortly after Pearl Harbor. After the war, Ben resumed his education, receiving his bachelor's degree from the University of California, his master's degree from UConn, and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of New Mexico. Ben devoted his life to education, teaching at various colleges, including Peru State College (Nebraska), University of Meintz (Germany), University of Maryland (European division), University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, Parson's College (Fairfield, Iowa), and finally spending almost twenty years at UND, where he retired from full time teaching. Even in his retirement he continued to teach part time in various colleges in Palm Beach County. Ben particularly enjoyed the theatre, reading, boating, and poetry. He will be missed more than we can say.
