Register now for "Writing Your Family Memoirs" writing seminar Please register now for the Center for Community Engagement’s Alvin E. Austin Memorial Seminar, “Writing Your Family Memoirs," to be presented by Archie N. Hill, former UND professor of journalism and colleague of Al Austin. The seminar will take place during Homecoming festivities from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in 114 Merrifield Hall. Bring your family memories and your favorite writing utensils or a laptop. Hill will give pointers on effective and exciting ways to use words to "show" rather than "tell" your story, with attention given to words that appeal to all five senses. User friendly, the seminar welcomes the beginning writer as well as those who wish a refresher in the art. There is no charge for the seminar, but donations to the Alvin E.
