Mellem Memorial Scholarship established at the College of Nursing

The College of Nursing will be able to offer more financial assistance to its nursing students through the newly established Esther Mellem Memorial Nursing Endowment. Contributions to the endowment will provide an annual scholarship for a UND nursing student.

The endowment was made possible through the generosity of Walter Mellem, a long-time Grand Forks resident and friend of the University. His wife, Esther, always wanted to be a nurse, but never had the chance to fulfill her dream; she chose to put her family first. As a way to honor his late wife, Mellem established this endowment so that students enrolled in the nursing program at UND would receive the necessary financial support to achieve their dreams.

If you would like to contribute to The Esther Mellem Memorial Nursing Endowment, contact Becky Cournia at 777-4526.

The UND College of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate programs, from a baccalaureate nursing program that is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education to master's education with six specializations and a doctoral program that prepares nurses for roles as nurse scientists and faculty. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics prepares students for roles in community nutrition or dietetics and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association.
