Gregory Patton, Robert Boyd honored by Mortar Board Robert Boyd, vice president for student and outreach services, and Greg Patton, assistant professor of management, have been inducted as honorary members of Mortar Board. This honor, received by so few, recognizes scholars who have made a lifelong commitment to leadership, scholarship and service -- the three ideals upon which the organization was founded. These awards are the third and fourth ever given by the Quo Vadis Chapter of Mortar Board at UND in its 76 years of existence at this institution. Mortar Board is a national college senior honor society founded on Feb. 15, 1918, by The Ohio State University, Swarthmore College, The University of Michigan and Cornell University. Membership is based on demonstrated leadership, scholarship and service. The organization serves as a vehicle to continue leadership development, promote service to colleges and universities and encourage lifelong contribution to the global community.
