Note date change for Native America Calling radio show
Ric Ferraro, psychology, will be a guest on a radio broadcast about Native Americans and Alzheimer's Disease on Native America Calling. The show date is Friday, June 29, from noon to 1 p.m. Central Time.
A description of the show follows: Experts say Native people are living longer, but more and more elders are showing symptoms of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. And Ric Ferraro, a professor of psychology at the University of North Dakota, says he believes that some health professionals are rushing to diagnose Alzheimer's instead of first ruling out other causes such as a vitamin deficiency in the elderly. Ferraro, who is credited with creating the first assessment test for elderly Native Americans, says more studies need to be done to help serve the Native community.
