Stofferahn elected to Rural Sociological Society Council Curt Stofferahn, professor of sociology and former director of the Social Science Research Institute, has been elected a council member of the Rural Sociological Society through 2009. He is also serving as co-chair of the Society's 75th anniversary committee. Founded in 1937, the Rural Sociological Society http://www.ruralsociology.org/ is a professional social science association that promotes the generation, application and dissemination of sociological knowledge. The Society seeks to enhance the quality of rural life, communities and the environment. The RSS has members in North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It publishes "Rural Sociology" and "The Rural Sociologist" as well as "Rural Realities."
