Betting named assistant VP for wellness


Laurie Betting, director of wellness, has been named assistant vice president for wellness, effective May 26. She will be responsible for the administration of the new student wellness center and the supervision of its programs.

Dr. Betting was named director of wellness in May 2002 and charged with establishing a student wellness center. Under her direction, a center was conceptualized, developed, and implemented. In 2003, the student body voted to increase their wellness fee to pay for the $20 million wellness center currently under construction. The center is scheduled to open August 2006 and will employ more than 200 permanent and student employees.

Betting, a native of Grand Forks, earned a doctoral degree in physical therapy from UND 2005. She also earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical therapy from UND.
