Students responsible for absence notification Students are responsible for contacting each of their faculty members regarding their absence from class. Therefore, do not require students to notify the Dean of Students office. Lines of communication between student and faculty are enhanced with contact between the parties involved. If a faculty member requires justification, it is their prerogative to request that from the student. In an emergency situation where the student is incapacitated, the Dean of Students office will provide assistance.
