Wellness Center lists 12 days of wellness

On the first day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* A pedometer to walk the dog.

On the second day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Two weights to lift.
-- Remember the importance of strength training – keep it simple and you’ll be amazed at how good you feel.

On the third day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Three got milk?
-- Research is showing that people who consume three servings of dairy a day have a reduced risk of becoming obese, so drink and eat your milk and yogurt!

On the fourth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Four laps to swim.
-- Chilly outside? Try going for a swim at the Hyslop Sports Arena or other indoor swimming facility. The water will feel great on your joints.
-- Not into water? Try a kickboxing class or riding a stationary bike.

On the fifth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Five fruits and veggies.
-- Mom was right – eat your fruits and vegetables – they’re good for you!

On the sixth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Six minutes to think.
-- Make time each day to reflect on what’s important to you.

On the seventh day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Seven times around the rink.
-- Vary your activity to keep it fun. Try ice-skating, snow shoeing, or skiing this winter.

On the eighth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Eight glasses of water.
-- Tap, bottled, with lemon, without lemon, with ice, without ice, room temperature, from the fridge – how do you like yours?

On the ninth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* Nine laps at the local mall.
-- If icy sidewalks and chilly weather are putting a crimp in your routine, find a place to walk inside, such as a school, a mall, a church, etc.

On the tenth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* 10 – 1,000 steps.
-- "The sovereign invigorator of the body is exercise, and of all the exercises walking is best." -- Thomas Jefferson, 1786.

On the eleventh day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* 11 minutes of stretching.
-- Remember the importance of stretching. Make time each day to stretch – your body will appreciate it!

On the twelfth day of wellness, my true love gave to me:
* 12 months of wellness.

Best wishes to a happy, healthy, and blessed 2007 to you and your family from NDPERS!
