Adults 50+ invited to OLLI@UND open house on Aug. 7

Join us for an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 7, to learn about the fall programs offered by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI@UND). The free social and fall course preview, sponsored by Cass Clay Creameries, will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Northland Community and Technical College, 2022 Central Avenue NE, East Grand Forks. You will be able to visit with other OLLI members, preview upcoming courses, meet the instructors, and enjoy root beer floats. The open house will also celebrate “Lifelong Learning Week” to be declared by Governor Jack Dalrymple as Aug. 6-12.

The OLLI@UND fall semester begins Sept. 4. Course offerings include Nature on the Northern Plains, The Presidency of John F. Kennedy, The U.S. at Home during WWI, The Great Depression, The “Grimm” Side of Fairy Tales, Red River Valley: 1870-1900, Glance of Iraq, and self-defense training (IMPACT). Additionally, there will be lectures held on stress, patent medicine, children’s books, knee problems, and state elections. Other events include a geological day trip through the hills of Walhalla and a night at the Fire Hall Theatre showcasing new plays written by OLLI members. These programs are purely for enjoyment without tests, grades or need for prior college experience.

OLLI@UND is a membership organization for adults 50 and better who want to experience cultural and social growth through learning and sharing ideas, opinions, and talents. OLLI@UND currently has more than 600 members. For more information, visit the web at olli.und.edu, e-mail und.olli@und.edu, or call 777.3000.
