Studio One highlights movie theater changes and a NASA researcher

Many people enjoy going to the movies. However, advances in silver screen technology are making it hard for some communities to keep up with changes. In the past, movies have been stored on a mile-long reel of film, then projected to audiences. The National Association of Theatre Owners says the future of motion pictures will exist in an all-digital format by 2013. Find out how small town movie theaters are affected by this change.

Also on the show, one man shares how he is working to improve accuracy of weather forecasts. Tony Grainger, an Atmospheric Sciences professor at the UND, will talk about his research with NASA. Grainger was a crew member and flight scientist on the Cessna Citation II Research Jet. He says he works to, “get cloud droplet size and liquid water content.” This information allows NASA to gain insight about precipitation measurements. Tune in to learn how a highly trained team collects and evaluates rain and snow data.
