Chuck Kimmerle has been the university photographer at the University of North Dakota since Nov. 2000, replacing long-time photographer Dick Larson, now lead editor and designer in the Office of University Relations. Prior to coming to UND, Chuck spent 16 years as a photojournalist working at newspapers in St. Cloud, Pittsburgh, and Grand Forks. He has won numerous awards including being named Newspaper Photographer of the Year in both North Dakota and Minnesota, and was part of the Grand Forks Herald photo staff that was runner-up for the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for spot news photography. More recently, he won Photographer of the Year gold honors in the 2004, 2005, and 2006 national CASE contest. He shoots primarily with a Kodak 14n and Nikon D2X digital cameras and maintains an ever-growing archive of digital images.
