"The University of North Dakota is mourning the death of our good friend U.S. District Judge Rodney Webb. Judge Webb graduated from UND with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration in 1957 and a Juris Doctor degree with distinction from the School of Law School in 1959.
"He exemplified the spirit of UND graduates. The retired JAG [Judge Advocate General} Corps Colonel made a significant mark as the Walsh County States Attorney, president of the North Dakota States Attorney’s Association, Grafton Municipal Judge, and Special Assistant Attorney General for North Dakota. President Ronald Reagan appointed him the U.S. Attorney for the District of North Dakota and six years later appointed him U.S. District Judge for the District of North Dakota. He became Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota and reached Senior Status.
"During all of those years, Judge Webb remained a staunch supporter of the School of Law, one who prized the education he received at UND and understood the importance of giving back his time, his talents, and other resources to the University. For example, he frequently returned to the Law School to serve as a guest lecturer and even a Juris-in-Residence. And he and his wife established the Rodney and Betty Webb Law Professorship within the UND School of Law.
"We extend our deepest condolences to Judge Webb's family and many friends. We will miss him."
