The Marketing team creates a marketing plan which focuses on promotingStudio One and developing an audience for each live show. The Marketing team works with the University of North Dakota’s Office of University Relations to write and distribute press releases to promote each week’s live show. The team also creates fliers, brochures, print advertisements, and a newsletter which is designed and written for alumni and friends.

Marketing Staff

JOB DESCRIPTION
The marketing staff is responsible for building an audience, promoting the show, working with guests during the live production and assisting with recruiting. Staff members report to the marketing director.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works with the marketing director to develop a marketing plan for the telecast season.
2. Develops a professional presentation to present the marketing plan to the Studio One executive council.
3. Implements items in the plan according to a schedule developed by the marketing director.
4. Provides assistance and staffing for the Studio One recruiting program.
5. Works in one or several of the following positions on show day: guest relations staff, tour guide, greeter or photographer.
6. Helps the stage manager or floor manager with in-studio guests.
7. Participates in post-production meeting.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Strong communication and organizational skills.
2. Ability to remain positive during challenging situations.
3. Ability to work in a team situation.

PREFERENCES
The following skills and related job experience are preferred in candidates, but are not required:
1. Some experience in advertising, marketing, public relations or sales.
2. Successful completion of courses that relate to this job description.


In addition, candidates must be available for approximately 10 - 12 hours a week, including the following times:

Mondays 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. (only for news release writers/audience development)
Tuesdays 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. (only for news release writers)
Tuesdays 3:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Thursdays 3:00 - 6:30 P.M.

Hours are subject to change depending on circumstances. Positions on the marketing team are one-semester, non-paid, positions. Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs.

Web Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION
The web designer is a part of the Studio One Marketing Team. They are responsible for designing Studio One print materials such as newspaper advertisements or flyers and maintaining sections of the Studio One website. The web designer will perform other web-related tasks as assigned by the Marketing Director. They attend the weekly marketing team meetings and also assist the team in recruiting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works as a member of the marketing team (see description).
2. Implements graphic elements of the marketing plan such as producing flyers, advertisements, etc. according to a schedule developed by the Marketing Director.
3. Makes updates to the Studio One website to fit with the current marketing campaign as assigned by the Marketing Director.
4. Provides assistance and staffing for the Studio One recruiting program.
5. Works with the Studio One photographer to develop the Season Summary.
6. Updates the news section of the website including posting stories, still photos and video.
7. Participates in post-production meetings.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Graphic design software experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign.
2. Web design software experience with Adobe Dreamweaver.
3. Successful completion of courses that relate to this job description.
4. Strong communication and organizational skills.

Marketing Director

JOB DESCRIPTION
The marketing director serves on the Studio One Executive Council, the Board of Directors and provides leadership to the marketing team. The marketing director works with the senior marketing director and is responsible for promotion, audience development and assisting with recruitment. The marketing director helps establish team goals, conducts weekly staff meetings, and helps manage a budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads the marketing staff to develop a marketing plan for the telecast season.
2. Prepares a professional presentation to describe the marketing plan to the executive council.
3. Works with the Television Center financial administrative assistant to coordinate catering.
4. Monitors budget for telecast season.
5. Gives marketing team report to all staff and interns before rehearsal.
6. Supervises all activities with guest relations staff, tour guides, photographer and greeter.
7. Coordinates all green room activities with the stage manager, producers and guest relations staff. Assists guests with special needs, props, etc.
8. Attends the post production meeting and provides feedback.

REQUIREMENTS
1. At least one semester of experience with the Studio One marketing team.
2. Some experience in an advertising, public relations or sales position.
3. Successful completion of courses that relate to this job description.
4. Strong communication and organizational skills.
5. Experience in a leadership role.

In addition, candidates must be available for approximately 10 - 15 hours a week including the following times:

Tuesdays 2:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Wednesdays 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Thursdays 3:00 - 6:30 P.M.
Fridays 9:05 - 10:05 A.M.

The amount of hours per week is subject to change depending on circumstances. The marketing director is a one semester non-paid position. Applicants who are available for two semesters are preferred, but consideration will be given to qualified candidates that are only available for one semester.
