LANGDON NATIVE INTERNS WITH AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Ryan Bachman is currently a reporter, a camera operator and a member of the Headline News Team with the award-winning news show, Studio One. The program is an hour long news program produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. This is Bachman’s first semester as an intern. “At Studio One I’ve been able to go out on shoots; interview people then come back to the studio and edit it all together. That’s pretty similar to what I will be doing in my future career,” he says. On the Headline News Team Bachman edits CNN footage highlights before the live show. During the live show, he is in charge of operating one of the studio cameras. Bachman says it’s been a great experience. “My favorite part is taking what I’ve learned in class and applying it to a real work environment,” he says.
Bachman is a 2007 graduate of Langdon Area High School and the son of Vic and Carrie Bachman. He is a senior at the University of North Dakota, majoring in communication and will graduate May 2012. His career objective is to work at a television station as a reporter after graduation.

NESODDEN NATIVE HELPS PRODUCE AWARD-WINNING NEWS SHOW
Nesodden, Norway native Julie Bech is interning with the award-winning television show, Studio One. The show is an hour long news program produced by staff and students on the University of North Dakota campus. This is Bech’s 4th semester with the project. This season she is working as the producer and a feature reporter. As the producer, Bech is in a formal leadership role. She is responsible for producing guest segments for the show. She also makes sure every segment of the life show is timed correctly. As a reporter, she works with a photographer to shoot footage and interviews for story content. She received the Recognition of Excellence award for her outstanding work and achievements with the project. Bech says her favorite part about working as an intern is everything she is learning. “Studio One teaches me exactly what I want to do and they’re teaching me to [perfect my skills],” she says.
Bech is a senior at the University of North Dakota majoring in communication and will be graduating this May. After graduation, she plans to work in the television industry as a writer. “It would be fun to entertain people through my writing but I also want to use the power of TV to raise awareness of more important issues,” Bech explains.
Bech also shines in the classroom. She received the International Student Scholarship Award for her academic work. She is a native of Nesodden, Norway and the daughter of Aslak Bech and Elisabeth Gronneberg.

LINO LAKES NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOWMichael Blees is currently interning at the award-winning news program, Studio One. The show is an hour long news program that is produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota campus. This is his first semester with the project and is a member of the graphics team. As a graphic designer, Blees is responsible for creating images that are related to story content. The finished design will appear on the live show. “My favorite part about Studio One is the positive atmosphere and experience you gain to enhance your skills,” Blees says.
Blees is a senior at the University of North Dakota majoring in graphic design and will graduate in May 2011. Along with his internship he is also a member of the Graphics and Photography Society on campus. After graduation, Blees plans to pursue a career in sports advertising or graphic design. He said what he has learned at Studio One will help him in his future career. “I have learned about different software and design processes and how to act like a professional,” he says. Blees is a native of Lino Lakes, Minn. and a 2004 graduate of Centennial High School. He is the son of Corinne and Terry Blees.

MANVEL NATIVE MARKETS AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Miranda Bushaw is currently interning at the award-winning news show, Studio One . Studio One is an hour long news program produced by staff and students on the University of North Dakota campus. This is Bushaw’s first semester as an intern and works as a member of the marketing staff. Bushaw attends weekly marketing meetings, recruits new interns for the following semester and is responsible for writing a press release each week in order to promote the program. She also gives tours of the facilities to audience members before the live show. Bushaw says what she is doing at Studio One, can’t be learned from any book. “The marketing meetings are where I get to use my creative and critical thinking skills and practice my communication and teamwork [abilities],” she says.
Bushaw is a sophomore at the University of North Dakota, majoring in business and will graduate in May of 2013. “Having experience working in a professional environment will really help me in the future. I have learned how to dress, talk and act like a professional thanks to Studio One ,” Bushaw says. She plans to use the skills she has learned during her internship in her future career.
Bushaw also shines when it comes to academics. She has received the Lanterman Foundation Scholarship, the Returning Student Scholarship and has been named to the President’s Honor Roll. She is a native of Manvel N.D. and a 2009 graduate of Grand Forks Central High School. She is the daughter of Don and Gina Bushaw.

GRAND RAPIDS NATIVE REPORTS FOR AWARD WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Grand Rapids, Minn. native Jessica Butler, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. She is in her first semester with the program working as a sports reporter. In this position she writes, edits, and produces stories. “My favorite part about Studio One is that I am constantly learning through hands-on experience,” she says.
As well as being a part of Studio One, Butler is a captain of UND Track and Field, a member of the UND Advertising Club and a volunteer for the Circle of Friends Humane Society. She was awarded the Grand Forks Herald Scholarship and has been UND’s Athlete of the Week. Butler is pursuing a degree in communication, with a minor in English and plans on graduating from UND May 2011.
After graduation, Butler plans on pursuing a career in public relations or advertising in the sports industry. She says her internship has helped her learn about different communication careers. “I have met amazing people and I [have had the chance to] get an inside look at what being a reporter is like,” she explains.

SNOHOMISH NATIVE REPORTS FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Snohomish, Wash. native, Jennifer Courtney, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. Courtney is in her first semester with the program, working as a news reporter. As a part of the news team, she writes, edits and producers her own stories. “At [Studio One], we learn how to use all of the editing software and cameras. I can actually say that I am a news reporter,” says Courtney.
Along with Studio One, Courtney is going to school to become a helicopter pilot. She is majoring in commercial aviation and plans on graduating in 2011. She also competes in intramural soccer during the school year. After graduation, Courtney plans to pursue a career in helicopter aviation. She says that what she has learned at Studio One will help her in areas outside of the program. “Studio One will help me become more professional in my community. As a reporter I am scheduling appointments, meeting professionals, and conducting myself on behalf of a national news [program],” says Courtney.

EAGAN NATIVE BRINGS AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS TO TELEVISION SHOW
Eagan, Minn. native, Carter Cusack, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. Cusack is in his third semester with the program working as a photographer. Last semester he was awarded first place in TV Sports Photography in the North Dakota Professional Communicator’s Contest. In addition to being a photographer, he is also the audio operator on show day. “[My favorite part about Studio One] has always been the people. The directors and [my] peers are fantastic. They are all supportive, talented, and fun,” says Cusack.
As well as being an intern for Studio One, Cusack is majoring in photography and German at the University of North Dakota. During his college career, Cusack has received the Recognition of Excellence from Studio One for his quality contributions to the program, the Boswau Award (a bursary that assisted him in studying abroad in Berlin) and the Max Kale Scholarship. He is also a member of the German Cooking Club.
After graduation, Cusack plans to work as a professional photographer, doing portrait and wedding photography and videography. Cusack says that Studio One has helped him sharpen his skills in more than one area. “For me, the top three things that I will take away from Studio One are professionalism, communication, and photography editing skills,” says Cusack.

BUFFALO NATIVE WORKS ON WEATHER TEAM FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Emily Danielson is interning on the weather team with the award-winning television show, Studio One. The show is produced weekly by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. As a weather team member, Danielson develops forecasts and weather graphics for the show. She also shoots video, edits footage and writes scripts for weather stories. This semester she has received the Studio One Recognition of Excellence Award for her hard work and quality contributions to the program. Danielson says her favorite part of Studio One is the professional experience and the people she has met. “It has taught me how to work as a team, be professional and work ahead,” she explains.
Danielson is the daughter of Dic and Joan Danielson. She graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Minn. in 2009. Danielson is currently attending the University of North Dakota and plans to pursue a degree in the medical field.

GRAND RAPIDS NATIVE MAKES HIS MARK AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Jeff Flannigan is a member of the marketing team for the award-winning television show, Studio One. The television program is produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. Flannigan is also a member of the Studio One audience development team during the week and is a green room attendant on show days. As a member of the audience development team, he helps plan and generate an audience for the live show each week. On show day he helps guests prepare for their live television interview. Flannigan says he has learned professionalism as well as the importance of meeting deadlines through his internship experience. “Being a part of a professional organization gives you a sense of self-worth, knowing what you do has its own part in the final product,” he explains. He plans on using the skills he’s learned with this internship to pursue a career in marketing.
Flannigan is the son of Bruce and Christine Flannigan of Grand Rapids, Minn. and a 2006 graduate from Grand Rapids High School. He is a senior at the University of North Dakota and plans on graduating this December with a degree in communication. In his spare time, you are likely to find Flannigan playing intramural hockey, guitar or driving the zamboni at the Grand Forks Ralph Engelstad Arena.

RETURNING INTERN BECOMES ONE OF “THE FACES” OF AWARD-WINNING TELELVISION SHOW David Folske is one of the “faces” of Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. This semester he is holding the sports anchor position on show day. Folske also works as a sports reporter during the week. As a reporter, he writes stories, conducts interviews, goes on shoots and edits video.
Folske says he enjoys being part of Studio One because of the people he works with and the opportunity to improve his communication skills. “All the reporting and anchoring skills I have learned here will definitely be with me when I graduate and they will help me get the job I want,” he says. Folske plans to work as a sports reporter and anchor for a media outlet such as FOX, after graduation.
Folske is the son of Tom and Carla Folske and a 2008 graduate from Bowman County High School. He is a junior at the University of North Dakota and plans on graduating in 2013 with a major in communication. In his spare time, you are likely to find Folske participating in UND’s Advertising Club. Along with his internship he is also involved academically. He was awarded the Alyce and John Travers Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a student from Bowman County.

GRAND FORKS NATIVE INTERNS AT STUDIO ONEGrand Forks native, Keegan Hahn is interning as a photographer with the award-winning television show, Studio One. The show is produced by staff and students at the University of North Dakota. This is Hahn’s first semester with the program. As a photographer, Hahn shoots video for reporters to help them tell stories visually. He also edits footage for the show.
Hahn says that his favorite part of the internship is working with his team. He says he enjoys getting to know everyone as well as working with television industry standard equipment. “[This internship] has taught me how to be professional and how to work with a team to [complete projects],” he explains.
Hahn is the son of Monte Gankler and Craig Hahn. He graduated from Grand Forks Red River High School in 2008. Hahn is pursuing a degree in sociology and plans on graduating from the University of North Dakota in 2012. In his spare time, you will likely find him playing intramural sports or hanging out with friends.

MADISON LAKE NATIVE ANCHORS WEATHER FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOWMadison Lake, Minn. native Miranda Hilgers, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. She is in her third semester interning with the program. This semester she is the weather anchor and weather producer. As weather producer she is responsible for leading the weather team and producing the weekly weather segment. “Studio One is a hands-on learning environment and will really prepare me for the job I’d like to have someday,” she explains.
Hilgers plans to be a television weather anchor after graduation. “Being able to write and produce my own news stories is invaluable experience for me,” she says. “[Also,] the opportunity to be on camera is so helpful in building up my on-screen confidence.” Her hard work and dedication earned her Studio One's Recognition of Excellence award. This award honors students who bring quality work to the program.
Hilgers is a 2008 Mankato East High School graduate. Her expected graduation date from the University of North Dakota is 2012 with a major in atmospheric science.

MINOT NATIVE HELPS PRODUCE AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOWMinot, N.D. native, Allison Hocking, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by the University of North Dakota. She is working as the associate producer this semester. In this role, she is responsible for developing and organizing live guest segments. “Studio One allows me to take what I learn in my classes and apply it,” Hocking explains.
Hocking would like to work in advertising, marketing, or public relations after graduation. “A job in which I get to use creativity paired with strategy would be ideal,” she says. She says her internship experience will be a benefit in the future. “Studio One is improving my communication and writing skills, which are valuable in any career,” she says.
Hocking graduated from Minot High School in May 2007. She expects to graduate from the University of North Dakota in 2011 with a degree in communication. Along with her academic achievements, she was also awarded 1st Runner Up in the 2011Miss Eastern North Dakota pageant.

NORWEGIAN MARKETS AWARD-WINNING NEWS SHOW
Narvik, Norway native Victoria Hvaring is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester she has worked on the marketing team. The marketing team promotes the show across the Midwest, Canada and on the UND campus. Hvaring also writes monthly e-news stories about Studio One alumni and takes pictures of the studio and guests on show day. “Victoria is a great asset to the Studio One program,” explains Director of Marketing Suzanne Irwin. “She is professional, focused, has a great eye for photography and is an excellent marketer,” Irwin adds.
Along with her internship, Hvaring is also involved with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad. Hvaring says her work at Studio One has, “helped me gain experience with different aspects of marketing, and prepared me for my future after college.”
Hvaring is pursuing a degree in marketing at UND. She says her internship at Studio One will help in her career endeavors. “I have greatly improved my communication skills, as well as professionalism and teamwork thanks to Studio One. All aspects that will help me pursue my dream job within the marketing field after I graduate,” she explains.

BISMARK NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Bismarck, N.D. native Zach Jacobson, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout this semester he has worked on the marketing team as a tour guide and member of the audience development team. Jacobson says his favorite part about Studio One is his position on the marketing team. “I love meeting new people, and reaching out to others about Studio One,” he explains.
Along with his work at Studio One, Jacobson is the Vice President of the UND DECA chapter, a member of Phi Eta Sigma, and is recognized by the Collegiate National Honors Society.
Jacobson is a 2009 graduate from Bismarck High School and is the son of LaMonte and Michelle Jacobson. He is sophomore in management and marketing at UND. Jacobson says his experience at Studio One will aid him in his future. “I have improved my confidence in speaking and communicating to other people and large groups…I hope to build off what I’ve learned at Studio One and keep using it throughout my life,” Jacobson says.

PLYMOUTH NATIVE MARKETS AND DESIGNS FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Plymouth, Minn. native Ryann Jones, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester, she has worked on the marketing team as a graphics and Web designer. “Studio One has taught me the importance of professionalism! This is a skill that will definitely help me in the future,” she says. She adds her experience at Studio One has been unique. “I have met some awesome people and learned a lot. I have never had experience with marketing, so being a member of the marketing team has been an awesome [opportunity].” In addition to her internship, Jones is involved with the design team at the Hughes Fine Arts Gallery at UND.
Jones is the daughter of Tim Jones and Kathy Krysel and is a 2006 Wayzata High School graduate. She is majoring in Graphic Design and New Art Media at UND. After graduation in December 2010, Jones plans to get a job at a large advertisement company by using the skills she has learned at UND. Jones says her internship at Studio One will help in her career endeavors. “Teamwork and quality have been a big aspect of my experience here,” she adds.
CHANHASSEN NATIVE DIRECTS AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Chanhasen Minn. native, Jason Kayati, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. He is in his fifth semester interning with the program. This semester he is a feature reporter and the director. As a feature reporter, he produces “soft news” stories for the live show. As director on show day, he is responsible for pre-production planning, directing the live show and supervising post-production activities in the studio. “The excitement everyone has for the project [is my favorite part of the internship],” he says.
“Studio One really taught me about professionalism and also really improved my writing,” he says. He has received the Studio One Recognition of Excellence award. This award honors interns who produce quality work with the program.
Kayati is a 2006 Chaska High School graduate. He is pursuing major in communication at UND and is expected to graduate in May 2011. He plans to pursue a career in broadcasting after graduation.

GRAND FORKS NATIVE IS THE GRAPHICS DIRECTOR FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Grand Forks, N.D. native Annah Klamm, is interning at the University of North Dakota’s award-winning television show Studio One. Klamm has held a variety of roles in her three semesters at Studio One. This semester she is the graphics director. During the live show she is the graphics operator. “Working as a team, seeing the final product of the show, seeing my hard work on TV and having people comment on it[is my favorite part of the program],” says Klamm. She says the experience will help her in the future. “I have bettered my communication skills, working with deadlines and working as a team…[I also have] work to show future employees,” she adds. She has received The Studio One Recognition of Excellence award for her hard work and quality contributions to the program.
Klamm is the daughter of Marvin and Dianne Klamm and a 2006 Red River High School graduate. She is pursuing a degree in graphic design technology at UND. After graduation she plans to work with graphics, advertising and Web design.
BOWMAN NATIVE ASSISTANT DIRECTS FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Bowman, N.D, native Derek Korczak, is interning at the University of North Dakota’s award-winning television show Studio One. Korczak has held a variety of roles with the program. He has been the technical director, audio operator, camera operator and photographer during his five semesters at Studio One. This semester he is the assistant director. “My favorite part about Studio One is the ability I have to get hands-on experience and working with equipment used in a professional setting,” says Korczak. “All aspects of Studio One will help me in the future. Especially the knowledge I will take from the program on how a live television broadcast is produced,” he adds. Korczak’s recently received Studio One’s Recognition of Excellence award. This award recognizes interns that have given exceptional contributions to the program.
Korczak is pursuing a degree in information systems at UND. After graduation he would like to work for KFYR-TV an NBC station in Bismarck N.D. “I could also work as a network administrator for a company or school,” Korczak adds.

SAINT PAUL NATIVE REPORTS FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Saint Paul, Minn. native Kelly Kracht, is interning at the University of North Dakota’s award-winning television show, Studio One. She is a news reporter during the week and production assistant on show days. “I really enjoy working at Studio One, because of all the great staff, friendly interns and awesome hands-on learning experience,” says Kracht. “What I have learned here at Studio One will be beneficial for my future career, because it has taught me a lot about the production side and what goes into putting a TV show [together]. Also the chance to network with all amazing interns is awesome,” she explains.
Kracht brings a variety of experience to her Studio One internship. She is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and Students Today and Leaders Forever chapters at UND. She is on the Dean’s list and has been awarded the Charles “Chuck” Communication Scholarship and an UND academic scholarship.
Kracht is the daughter of Dave and Linda Kracht and a 2008 graduate from Highland Park Senior High. She is a communication major at UND. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in public relations or broadcasting. “If I work in public relations I want to work for a large corporation or sports agency, and then transfer into non-profit once I have more experience in PR,” Kracht explains.

GRAND FORKS NATIVE MARKETS AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION PROGRAMGrand Forks, N.D. native Hayley Kuntz, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Kuntz has worked as a member of the marketing team throughout the semester. She is also a tour guide on show day and a member of the audience development team during the week. “Guiding tours and developing audiences has taught me to be an effective and professional communicator,” she says.
Kuntz is pursuing a degree in communication from the University of North Dakota. She says her internship experience is a compliment to her degree. “Studio One has greatly improved my communication skills [and it’s] a great place to grow and learn!”
After graduation, Kuntz plans to work in marketing, advertising or public relations. As well as having a communications based career, Kuntz has a passion to incorporate graphic design into her work. “I love being involved in a program that offers professional experience that will benefit me in my future. The people at Studio One are talented and creative and produce quality work,” says Kuntz.

WINNIPEG NATIVE MANAGES AWARD-WINNING NEWS SHOW
Winnipeg, Canada native Brenlee Loewen, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester she has worked as a news reporter during the week and the floor manager during the live production. “My favorite part of Studio One is show day…the professional atmosphere and engaging stories and guests make show day an amazing learning experience,” she explains. As well as her internship, Loewen is also involved in the International Honors Society, and is on the Presidents Honor Roll list at UND.
Loewen is pursuing a degree in English education at UND, and plans to become an English high school teacher after graduating from college. Loewen says her internship at Studio One will help in her career endeavors. “Studio One not only improves communication skills…it helps you make connections and develops you as a writer. Professionalism is always a plus in any profession andStudio One embodies that skill,” she explains.

HERMANTOWN NATIVE REPORTS FOR AWARD-WINNING NEWS SHOW
Hermantown, Minn. native Blake Melin, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester, Melin has worked as a news reporter and the teleprompter operator. “The incredible equipment here followed by the amazing training makes [Studio One] the best learning experience ever,” Melin says.
Along with his internship, Melin is also involved on campus. He plays intramural hockey, golf, and is a member of the on-campus organization, Students Today Leaders Forever.
Melin is pursuing a degree in communication at UND. He says his internship at Studio One will help in his career endeavors. “I now hold tools of a professional, before I have entered the field,” he explains. However, Melin dreams of a future on the other side of the camera, “I want to move to Nashville and start a career as a singer, my two heroes are Brad Paisley and Michael Bublè.”
PLYMOUTH NATIVE SHOOTS VIDEO FOR AWARD-WINNING NEWS SHOW
Plymouth, Minn. native Nick Pavia, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester, Pavia has worked as a videographer. “In just a few months I have learned so much about film and operating a camera,” Pavia says. He shoots video for reporters, on the project to help tell stories visually.
In addition to his internship, Pavia is also involved in the community. He is a member of the Community of Learners Scholarship Program.
Pavia is pursuing a degree in communication at UND. He says his internship at Studio One will help in his career endeavors “I [hope] to get a job that I enjoy. [Studio One has taught me information] that is very practical,” he adds.
FAIRMONT NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Fairmont, Minn. native Matthew Petrowiak is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Petrowiak works as a feature reporter and a camera operator. “My favorite part of Studio One is working the camera on show day. It helps me get insight to what I want to do for my career,” Petrowiak says.
Along with his work at Studio One Petrowiak is a Junior Pool League Member, Fairmont Medical Center volunteer, Red Cross volunteer, Junior BASS Club Member and he also volunteers at the Salvation Army.
Petrowiak is a communication major at UND. He says his experience in producing an award-winning television program will aid him as he dreams of working for Saturday Night Live. “I will use the skills that I obtained at Studio One and will do my best to get my dream job which is to work at SNL,” Petrowiak explains.
Petrowiak is a 2008 graduate of Granada Huntley East Chain High School. He is the son of Steve and Cheryl Petrowiak.

WACONIA NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Waconia, Minn. native Sara Porter is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Porter is a feature reporter during the week and is the technical director on show day. “My favorite part is when you finally get a shoot set up, you go, and the people you meet there are amazing,” Porter explains. She also received the Studio One Recognition of Excellence award this fall for her dedication and hard work.
Porter is a 2009 graduate of Waconia High School and the daughter of Joy and Dean Porter.
She is sophomore majoring in communication at UND. After graduation she plans to pursue a career in the film industry. Porter says her experience at Studio One will help her in her future. “I really appreciate all the professional experience…being expected to be professional is really good practice for future situations,” Porter says.
FARGO NATIVE MARKETS AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Fargo, N.D. native, Brynn Radcliffe is currently interning at the award-winning news show Studio One. She is in her second semester with the program’s marketing team. During the week she writes press releases about show content. On show day, she works with the guests in the green room before they go on the live show. “My favorite part is the fun people I get to work with…we get a lot accomplished and we are successful with what we do. But [we] have a lot of fun!” she explains. The marketing team is responsible for promoting the internship on the UND Campus. Radcliffe helped this year’s team achieve the highest number of applicants the program has received since 2005.
Along with Studio One, Radcliffe helped start the UND DECA chapter. DECA is an association for marketing students. She serves as president and received the “Most Improved Chapter” award from North Dakota DECA. She has also received the Studio One Recognition of Excellence for her quality work with the program.
Radcliffe is majoring in Marketing and Management at UND and plans to graduate in 2012. She says her internship at Studio One will help in her career after college. “[Studio One] gives me the chance to practice my professionalism, which will also help me to find and attain a job,” she says.

COTTAGE GROVE NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Cottage Grove, Minn. native Dylan Reichstadt is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout this semester he has worked as a videographer and camera operator. “It’s amazing that students have the opportunity to use the professional and expensive equipment. [It’s] true hands-on learning,” Reichstadt explains.
Reichstadt brings mixed media experience to his current position at Studio One. “I used to be a lifecaster,” he explains. “A lifecaster is someone who broadcasts their life 24 hours a day, live on the Web. My Web site has 3,544,000 hits to date, and constantly growing,” Reichstadt adds. He is still an active member of the online community as a broadcaster and an online administrator for the Justin.TV Web site where he monitors content and helps users trouble shoot problems.
Reichstadt is a 2010 graduate of Park High School and the son of Randy and Jodi Reichstadt. He is a freshman in communication at UND. Reichstadt plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism after graduation. “Studio One is teaching me so many skills, ranging from teamwork to professionalism. This is useful in many fields…It’s all amazing,” he says.

RUSH CITY NATIVE FORECASTS FOR STUDIO ONE
Rush City, Minn. native Matt Saari, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout the semester, he has worked on the weather team as the weather director. “Being able to use all of the technology, the cameras, the software, the production equipment, to produce an award-winning television show is awesome. I never thought I would be able to get to do all of that in school,” explains Saari. During the week Saari helps develop forecasts, graphics and show content. “I will never forget the things I’ve learned at UND and especially at Studio One,” he adds.
Along with Studio One, Saari is involved with other groups and organizations. He is a drum line section leader in the Pride of North Dakota marching band, member of the UND Wind Ensemble and president of the UND American Meteorological Society chapter. He also plays intramural sports in hockey and basketball and is a band member with the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra.
After graduation in May 2011, Saari plans to pursue a career in the field of operational meteorology with an emphasis on aviation. He says his internship at Studio One will help in his career goals. “The professional communication and teamwork skills as well as the experience together will be priceless in whatever career path I take,” says Saari.

CHAMPLIN NATIVE LOOKS TO THE SKY FOR STUDIO ONE
Champlin, Minn. native Ben Schink, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout this semester, he has worked on the weather team. He is a reporter and also helps develop weather content for the show by analyzing weather forecasts. “Being a part of a team that is dedicated to the same project and seeing how many little tasks are put together to make a show is my favorite part of Studio One,” he says. “I appreciate all the skills and resources Studio One has taught me this semester.”
In addition to interning at Studio One, Schink is in the Air Force ROTC, tennis club, and American Meteorological Society at the University of North Dakota. He says his experience at Studio One has, “helped me improve my communication skills, confidence, and teamwork.”
He is the son of Dave and Judy Schink and a 2007 graduate of Champlin Park High School. Schink is an atmospheric science major at UND. After graduation in May 2012, he plans to pursue a career as an Air Force Officer.

BISMARK NATIVE ANCHORS TELEVISION SHOWBismarck, N.D. native Lynsey Seminary, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Seminary is a member of the programming team and has been the co-anchor of the show throughout the semester. “The co-anchor position has been amazing! I have learned to be comfortable and relaxed [on camera] and most of all it has been one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had,” she says. This semester she was a recipient of Studio One's Recognition of Excellence award for her hard work and contributions to the program. “[Studio One] is by far the most beneficial thing I’ve done in my college career [and] it’s a way to take what I’ve learned in class and apply it. The environment is also amazing,” she explains.
In addition to her internship experience at Studio One, she is also active on campus and in the community. She is a marketing intern at the Empire Arts Center and also served as vice president of membership for the University of North Dakota’s Toastmasters chapter.
Seminary is a 2006 Century High School graduate and is pursuing a degree in marketing at UND. After graduation, Seminary plans to work in marketing or public relations in the music or entertainment industry.

EDEN PRAIRIE NATIVE BRINGS REPORTING SKILLS TO AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Eden Prairie, Minn. native Nichole Shotwell, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Shotwell has been a member of the weather team for two semesters. She says “Each time I [produce a story] I learn something new which makes the experience fun.” She says her favorite aspect of the program is, “going out and using the cameras and editing video.”
In addition to Studio One, Shotwell is involved on campus. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the senior honor society Mortar Board.
She is pursuing a degree in atmospheric science at UND. After graduation, Shotwell plans to work at a television station as a broadcast meteorologist or as a reporter. She says her internship experience will benefit her in the future. “Studio One has given me so much experience for the type of career I want to pursue. Not only has [the program] given me reporting experience, it has also taught me how to be a professional, a team player and produce quality work.”

MINNEAPOLIS NATIVE REPORTS FOR STUDIO ONEMinneapolis, Minn. native Korey Southerland, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Southerland has worked as a member of the weather team throughout the semester. “I have learned to be professional,” she explains. She adds that Studio One has helped her reach new heights in her academic career. “I have always wanted to ‘fly high’ and become the best me, Studio One gave me my wings!” she explains.
In addition to her internship, Southerland is also involved on campus. She is the president of the University of North Dakota’s Women in Science club and is the secretary of the Public Affairs Club. She is a McNair scholar and has also received a political science public achievement scholarship.
Southerland is a 2005 graduate from South High School in Minneapolis, Minn. and the the daughter of Robyn Southerland. She is in her third year at UND pursuing degrees in atmosphere science and political science. After graduation, she plans to become a professor at an institution of higher education. In addition to her passion for science and policy, she would like to also teach communication.

DELANO NATIVE MARKETS AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOWGRAND FORKS, N.D. — Delano, Minn. native Bethany Stender, is an intern at Studio One , an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. Throughout her three semesters with the program, she has held many jobs on the marketing team. This semester she is the Student Marketing Director. It is her responsibility to lead the marketing team and help develop a marketing plan for the season. “My favorite part about Studio One is the people I get the opportunity to work with. The staff has taught me so much,” she explains.
Stender plans to pursue a career in sports marketing, preferably for the Minnesota Twins baseball team after graduation. She explains Studio One has helped prepare her for the future. “I have learned the value of professionalism and have greatly improved my communication skills,” she adds.
Stender graduated from Delano High School in 2006. Her expected graduation date from the University of North Dakota is May 2011 with a degree in communication.

BROOKLYN PARK NATIVE REPORTS FOR AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOWBrooklyn Park, Minn. native, Ashley Trdan, is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced by the University of North Dakota. As a first semester intern, she works as a feature reporter and stage manager. Feature reporters are responsible for generating story ideas, editing video, and producing stories for the live show. Stage manager is a show day position that involves coordinating cameras, cast members and guest members.
Trdan plans to work as a public relations representative for a broadcasting company or public relations firm after graduation. “Studio One will help me in the future with communicating effectively with many different people,” she says. “Her creative stories and eagerness to learn make her an asset to the program,” adds Studio One's Executive Director Monte Koshel.
Trdan is a 2009 Champlin Park High School graduate. She is currently pursuing her degree in communication at the University of North Dakota and expects to graduate in May 2013.

HALLOCK NATIVE INTERNS AT AWARD-WINNING TELEVISION SHOW
Hallock, Minn. native Amy Unrau is an intern at Studio One, an award-winning television show produced at the University of North Dakota. She has been with the program for 5 semesters. Her positions this semester include news director, news anchor, news reporter, and a member of the Studio One Executive Council and Board of Directors. Unrau has a variety of media experience she brings into her current position. She has been a co-anchor, feature reporter and stage manager in previous semesters. Unrau brings quality and professionalism to the show. “The best part of Studio One is that you build your professionalism, enhance your resume and have fun doing it,” she explains.
Along with her work at Studio One Unrau is the Vice President of membership in UND’s Toastmasters International chapter and she interned at Simmons Flint in the summer of 2010. Unrau is on the University of North Dakota School of Arts & Sciences Dean’s List and recipient of the E.E. Mick Simmons Memorial Scholarship, the David Beach Memorial Scholarship, and the Paul W. Larson Returning Student Scholarship.
Unrau is a 2007 graduate of Kittson Central High School.
